Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020 Update
On 1st of October 2021 furlough will end, and there will also be an end to some of the temporary restrictions from the Corporate Insolvency and Governance Act 2020.

Breathing space for debtors
From Tuesday 4 May 2021 debtors have the right to apply to the local authority or to the insolvency service for a breathing space to allow more time to pay debts.
As a creditor, if you are told that a debt owed to you is in a breathing space, you must stop all action related to that debt and apply the protections. These protections must stay in place until the breathing space ends.
Landlords beware of Illegal Evictions
With the courts in a backlog and Covid-19 permission being required to beat the eviction ban, landlords can be tempted to take the law into their own hands. Doing so is illegal, and you could be prosecuted.
Using the transfer up to High Court to gain permission is usually the fastest way to enforce your possession order.

Enforcement Agent Fee Review 2023 - archived
This Government review considered whether the fees recovered by enforcement agents and High Court Enforcement Officers should be uplifted from the level set in 2014, and whether more could be done to encourage payment without an enforcement visit being necessary.
The review document sets out the reforms that the government intends to implement. Fees will be increasing.
